December 2005:
Thanks to help from our local community, Akron Recycling Center's Thanksgiving Dinner drive helped feed dozens of neighbors. So we are extending the program to provide Christmas Dinners to Akron's homeless and hungry! Just buy printer supplies between 12/7/05 and 12/23/05 (cartridges - laser, inkjet, toner, fax) from Akron Recycling Center and we will donate 100% of the profits to Haven of Rest. May 2005:
Akron Recycling Center teams up with the Blue Chips group to find a cure for Alzheimer's. There are 4.5 million Americans, 240,000 Ohioans alone, who have been stricken with the disease. Our goal is to raise $350.00 by year's end. Make a cash donation or recycle your cartridges to support this worthy cause.

Akron Recycling Center is looking to support YOUR CHARITY or group! Sign up for recycling online. You will be able to have your supporters SIGN THEMSELVES UP online and send in empty cartridges on your behalf! September 2004:
Akron Recycling Center now offers mailing of your cartridges through the United States Postal Service! You can't get more convenient than mailng your cartridges out with your letters! This will provide individuals and companies the most convenient and easiest way ever to recycle their cartridges. August 2004:
Due to continuing price drops in the market place all year, due to a lagging economy, many recyclers are having a difficult time of it, but we are still here. We'd like to thank all our faithful customers for their continuing support and for allowing us to continue to serve your recycling needs and look forward to working with you all many years to come.

January 2004:
Akron Recycling Center announces its best year to date! In 2003, we recycled more empty print cartridges than ever before. This is due to the phenomenal support from our cartridge recycling companies. Thanks, everyone, for a great job!

December 2003:
Akron Recycling Center opens two West Coast locations to expand our services! Our nationwide mailing service will allow individuals and companies to mail in their cartridges. We can provide FREE mailing baggies and recycling boxes. Table top displays and other information is also available. Click Here for more information.

July 2003:
Akron Recycling Center moving forward by adding used cell phones to our buy list. If you have an old cell phone to recycle, give us a call.

April 2003:
Akron Recycling Center hits the 340 mark! We now accept over 340 different laser, fax, toner, and inkjet cartridges! For a complete list sorted by manufacturer, click here! If your cartridge is on this list, call us to keep it out of our nation's landfills!

March 2003:
Akron Recycling Center is expanding our sales force. We are currently hiring commission sales positions. Easy sales and flexible hours make this the perfect part-time job for students, retirees, or stay-at-home parents. If you are interested, please e-mail or fax a resume. More info here...

February 2003:
Akron Recycling Center is developing a computer recycling program with JCSI, Inc. Our goal is to collect old computers and monitors to refurbish and distribute to deserving area families. If you can donate time or resources to help with this worthy cause, please contact us.

January 2003:
Akron Recycling Center announces its move into a larger facility to accomodate its growth in 2002 and to prepare for its expected expansion in 2003. Please make note of the new address.

December 2002:
Our Recycling Program Coordinators scoured downtown Akron for empty cartridges to provide Christmas dinner for the homeless through Haven of Rest. The businesses who contributed their empty cartridges helped to provide meals for 54 less fortunate residents of Summit, Portage, and Medina counties. 

October 2002:
Welcome to the Akron University students helping us in our recycling efforts! Whether processing cartridges in our warehouse, talking to local businesses about recycling their cartridges, or attending school to enrich their futures, we wish you the best of luck in all that you do! 

September 2002:
Recycling Centers of America, Inc. announces its acquisition of Mother Nature ink, a local recycler of printer cartridges, fluorescent light bulbs, cell phones, and batteries. We welcome MNi and look forward to expanding our recycling efforts and developing programs to include these items.

July 2002:
Akron Recycling Center has begun working with Barberton High School OWE program to encourage at-risk students to stay in and finish school. The program helps students get part-time afternoon jobs, while going to school in the mornings. The students must attend and perform well in class to remain in the work program.

June 2002:
We are kicking off our fundraising programs for public/private schools, non-profit and business organizations, and churches. Cartridges collected will earn dollars for your group. Organizations interested in raising money with no selling are encouraged to contact us.

April 2002:
Akron Recycling Center has incorporated as a division of Recycling Centers of America, Inc. We have moved out of the home office into larger offices in downtown Akron, Ohio. The move is prompted by encouraging response and support from local NE Ohio businesses who have helped us get where we are today. Thank you all for your support of local environmental issues and our local business.

October 2000:
Akron Recycling Center establishes a working relationship with local printer cartridge recycler to raise awareness of cartridge recycling in NE Ohio.

Autumn 1997:
Akron Recycling Center is begun from a home office as a side job.  The company's goal at this time is to promote recycling in general and technology recycling in particular.
