   No SPAM Policy

Q: What is Akron Recycling Center's policy on SPAM?
A: ARC does NOT send out spam. We avoid doing business with companies that use spam.

Q: If ARC doesn't spam, then why have we received e-mails with an Akron Recycling Center e-mail address in the "Reply To" field?
A:To cover their tracks, spammers usually FORGE the return e-mail address of their e-mails. Many times, the address isn't even a real word, like xdvfgshe@AkronRecyclingCenter.com. But that doesn't matter to them. They know that any reply to their e-mails would be negative and would allow authorities to track them easier to shut them down. Also, they don't need to have an accurate return address, since they are counting on you to click on the links in the e-mail to take you to their websites. Besides, if you think about it, why would WE be sending you an e-mail to order Viagra or to refinance your mortgage?? ;-)

Q: If ARC doesn't spam, why are you currently blacklisted on some online spam filter services?
A: As we said, spammers FORGE the return e-mail address, putting other addresses there instead. They do this to hundreds of thousands of individuals and companies every day. It doesn't matter to them WHOSE return e-mail address they use. Individuals receiving these e-mails THINK they are actually coming from us and report our website as spamming them. The services that track spamming activity then list us as spammers. Usually, within a few days or a week, the spammers begin using another return e-mail address and the reports stop. 48-72 hours after that, usually our listing gets dropped.

Q: If ARC is so against spammers, why don't you do something about it?
A: The spam sent out with our name on it hurts our image, slows our business, and causes a lot of chaos for us or ANY person or company who is a victim of spammers. Unfortunately, there are just TOO MANY of them out there. By the time we report a spammer, they have moved on to another web host and are already hurting their NEXT victims. Another way spammers operate is through web hosts that allow or even promote spamming, so that reporting them doesn't stop them. We have to rely on educating people to understand HOW this happens and trust that you will understand WHY this is happening and WHO is really responsible.

If you have any other questions about spam or fraudulent e-mails, please go to our contact page for phone numbers, or you can e-mail us at NoSpam@AkronRecyclingCenter.com
